Colon Hydrotherapy

So what exactly is colon hydrotherapy?

From the name, it can be found out that it has something to do with water and the colon. Well, a simple definition for this would be getting ways to induce water into the colon so that the water washes out residue wastes and toxins, strengthens and smoothens the colon and provide an effective environment for the beneficial bacteria that exists in the colon.

When one decides to have colon hydrotherapy, what happens is that the patient lies down on a table and warm water, which is purified and filtered, is infused into the colon through the rectum. Well, this may sound like a painful process, but it is painless and the benefits are great. The infusion of water washes away most of the toxic material that has accumulated over time in the colon. The water also acts as a stimulant for the process of peristalsis which helps in defecation of fecal matter.

Before going for the actual colon hydrotherapy, there are some things that should be remembered:

- Colon hydrotherapy should be performed by trained professionals

- One should always go to the therapy with the mentality that they will get better and that the procedure will work. Once you set your mind that you will be well, then that is what will happen

- No liquids should be taken 1 hour before the therapy

- Nothing should be eaten 2 hours before going for the therapy

- Carbonated liquids should be avoided 2 days before the therapy session

- Junk, fatty, packaged and processed foods should not be eaten

It would be good to note that the procedure is very safe if done by trained professionals. Although there have not been many cases of people getting injured when undergoing colon hydrotherapy, it is better safe than sorry. The whole procedure is safe. In fact, this procedure is safer than the normal enema one can do for themselves. The whole procedure is done by trained experts who know what they are doing.

Some people wonder how this procedure is different from enema. Well, enema is not as effective as hydrotherapy. This is because there are some areas colon hydrotherapy can reach that enema can’t. For example, enema can reach the rectum and the lower colon whereas hydrotherapy reaches the entire colon. The effectiveness of having many enemas cannot be compared to one session of the colon hydrotherapy.

In conclusion, when you decide to go for the hydrotherapy, it would be important to have it done by a trained professional hydrotherapist. Let him/her give you advice on the best hydrotherapy treatment for your particular conditions or problems.
